Gratitude - The Key to Prosperity

The subject of gratitude and appreciation, which are two sides of the same coin, is a vast one and yet at the same time very simple. We are told from the time when we were young children that we should be grateful for what we are given. Saying thanks is drummed into us from a very young age. And yet, no one ever teaches us how to feel the wonderful feeling that is associated with the word.

It is my belief that the feelings associated with gratitude, or appreciation, are one of the finest and highest expressions of the spiritual core, or soul, within us. It is not until we begin to resonate with that part of us that we can begin to feel that most wonderful and uplifting feeling.

I began to feel those wonderful feelings when I started to work with nature doing shamanic work. Spending time in the woods is always an uplifting experience for me. It seems that nature, in her infinite wisdom, has a message of peace which endows us with a natural blessing. It is any wonder that people who live in cities are surrounded with so much violence and unhappiness? They have little real Nature, in her wild and unchecked form, to interact with. This is probably one reason why those who are aware eventually want to move out into a more natural setting, in order to experience the blessings which the natural world bestows upon us.

Having pets is also one way that people interact with nature. Although most pets these days have little resemblance with their wild counterparts, most still retain the instincts that help them to survive in nature. Given their natural diet i.e. raw food they thrive and grow sleek and happy. They retain their ability to see that which we cannot see, and hear far beyond our capacity to hear. What wonders must we be missing with our limited five senses?

So today I would encourage you to go inside and find five things in your life to be grateful for. Find things around you that you appreciate. Find five qualities within yourself that you appreciate. It can be talents or gifts that you take for granted, but which your friends envy about you. Look at yourself from the point of view of someone else and see the glory that you are.

Be grateful for the life that you have now. If you do this exercise for thirty days, I can guarantee that you will notice changes in the way you look at your life, and you will also notice many other things that you have previously missed. Try it. I think you will like it.
